Heat resistant paints, also called heatproof paints and high-temperature paints, are used where the coating is required to withstand temperatures up to 750°C. Commercially they are used on chimneys, furnaces and on pipework in the oil, gas and chemical industries. Heat resistant paints do not protect the underlying substrate from heat and should not be confused with fire retardant or intumescent paints.
